Costa Brava without a car: it can be done (and here is how)
Train, bus and transfers: the real recipe for a coast week without renting a car or fighting for parking.
The network that does exist
The commuter train reaches Blanes and the regional line Llanca and Figueres. Buses link the coastal villages in season (Sarfa connects Lloret, Tossa, Sant Feliu, Platja d'Aro, Palamos and Palafrugell). With that base plus strategic transfers you cover 90% of the plans.
The three transfers that change everything
Airport-hotel on arrival (with luggage and fatigue, the worst time for experiments), the base changes if you sleep in two towns, and the dinners or coves where the last bus leaves at 21:00. Those three transfer legs cost less than two days of rental plus parking.
A 5-day car-free itinerary
Day 1-2 in Lloret with the boat to Tossa; day 3 bus to Platja d'Aro and afternoon in S'Agaro; day 4 transfer to Palafrugell with an afternoon walking Calella and Llafranc; day 5 transfer to the airport with a Girona stop. Zero parking, zero fines and one more beer at every dinner.
