Barcelona in 48 hours: the perfect walking weekend
Two days, one hotel and zero city transport: the route covering the Gothic quarter, Gaudi, beach and mountain with realistic timings.

Day 1: Gothic, Ramblas and sea
Morning in the Gothic quarter: cathedral, Placa del Rei and the Jewish call until you surface at La Boqueria (best before 11:00). Afternoon on Passeig de Gracia: La Pedrera and Casa Batllo from outside (only one inside, pick Batllo) and finish at Barceloneta beach at sunset with paella. All walkable or with a couple of metro stops.
Day 2: Gaudi and mountain
Sagrada Familia first thing (9:00, tickets bought) and Park Guell right after (monument area with booking). Lunch in Gracia and afternoon on Montjuic: cable car from the port, castle, the viewpoint and the finish at the Magic Fountain. If your flight leaves late, a final dinner of pintxos in Poble-sec.
Where to sleep without changing hotels
Eixample near Passeig de Gracia is the sweet spot: walking distance to modernism, 15 minutes to the Gothic quarter by metro and 30 to the airport by transfer (35-50 EUR per vehicle). Arriving late and leaving early with luggage: the door-to-door transfer beats the Aerobus.
